Dobell’s Clothing Exhibition

Dobell’s Clothing Exhibition

In September 1969 William Dobell dressed up for his formal 70th birthday party hosted by Dr & Mrs McMahon in Sydney.  You can now come into Dobell House and see this outfit.

It is a glamorous outfit with a white dress shirt, waistband, a Dobell bowtie, dinner suit & a vintage Apollo pure woollen overcoat.

And, William’s personal cuff links initialled “WD”.

This is a really special exhibit and it truely has to be something you see for real.

Sir William’s Bolero & Tails Suit

We now have William’s Bolero (with tails) style suit on display.

The shirt buttons are screwed on and his cufflink of a lion with a crown traditionally symbolises courage, nobility, royalty, strength, stateliness and valour.  A lot like William.

We imagine William wearing this suit to a fancy do, obviously in his young days when he was slimmer & dapper.  Maybe bought and worn in London.
