Fibrefest Spinning and Weaving Festival at Dobell House
Dobell House will host the Fibrefest Spinning and Weaving Festival
this coming long weekend (June 7, 8 and 9).
Award winning local resident Jean Piddington, an expert spinner
and knitter from Morisset Park, will be one of the exhibitors at
the Festival which is being organised by the Morisset Spinners and
Weavers. She consistently wins awards at the Sydney Royal Easter
Show with her fine knitted shawls and has won the prize for the
longest spun thread at Bothwell in Tasmania on numerous occasions.
Well known weaver Elaine Fletcher will also display some of her
award winning weaving pieces and Lynette Hall will exhibit her felted
pieces, both large and small.
A wide range of handcrafted goods will be on display, and for sale,
including hand spun and knitted garments, woven and knitted scarves,
and knitted toys.
A history and memorabilia exhibition will illustrate the story
of spinning and weaving in the district and include interesting
photographs of old Morisset.
Specialists will demonstrate the arts of spinning, weaving, weave-it
squares and felting for kids on the hour from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm
on Saturday and Sunday.
Refreshments will be available and the Festival will be open 9.00
am – 4.00 pm on Saturday (7th) and 10.00 am – 4.00 pm
