Fibrefest Spinning and Weaving Festival at Dobell House

Dobell House will host the Fibrefest Spinning and Weaving Festival this coming long weekend (June 7, 8 and 9).

Award winning local resident Jean Piddington, an expert spinner and knitter from Morisset Park, will be one of the exhibitors at the Festival which is being organised by the Morisset Spinners and Weavers. She consistently wins awards at the Sydney Royal Easter Show with her fine knitted shawls and has won the prize for the longest spun thread at Bothwell in Tasmania on numerous occasions.

Well known weaver Elaine Fletcher will also display some of her award winning weaving pieces and Lynette Hall will exhibit her felted pieces, both large and small.

A wide range of handcrafted goods will be on display, and for sale, including hand spun and knitted garments, woven and knitted scarves, and knitted toys.

A history and memorabilia exhibition will illustrate the story of spinning and weaving in the district and include interesting photographs of old Morisset.

Specialists will demonstrate the arts of spinning, weaving, weave-it squares and felting for kids on the hour from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Refreshments will be available and the Festival will be open 9.00 am – 4.00 pm on Saturday (7th) and 10.00 am – 4.00 pm on both Sunday (8th) and Monday (9th). Further information on 4975 4115.
